Falcon Jane’s 2020 output is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Her album, Faith, is a collection of extremely personal tracks that were written throughout 2019, during a period in which she attended a family funeral roughly every two months. While lyrically there is a distinct vulnerability and honesty present on each track, she juxtaposes it with bright, often rather uplifting music. Tracks like ‘All Of A Sudden’ and its shimmering first chord almost feels like the sun hitting you, while ‘Take Your Turn’ brings funky nostalgia to the foreground. At the same time, you can’t avoid the haunting darkness of ‘The Other Moon’, her take on her last conversations with her grandmother. -Dan Peeke
